David Payton received a BS in Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, followed by a BA in Theatre Education from Rhode Island College. He is certified to teach grades 5- 12 in English, Communications and Theatre.  David worked as a College Admissions Officer at Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island and he taught in the Seekonk, MA school system at all elementary schools and middle schools.   David has been the Director of Kaleidoscope Theatre since its inception in 1977.

He has written over 20 fairy tale musicals - book, music and lyrics - and many educational topics for schools including the most recent award winning productions of BULLY for elementary, middle and high schools.  He is the recipient of many awards including the Jefferson Award for Rhode Island.
